Online Slots and Pokies

Slots are the biggest part of any online casino lobby, and the easiest to judge once you know two numbers: RTP and volatility. This page explains both, then lists our top-rated slots by return to player, drawn from the studios in our provider directory. 18+.

Top slots by RTP

How to choose a slot

Two numbers on every game tile tell you most of what you need.

• RTP (return to player) is the long-run average share of stakes paid back — 96% is solid, and higher is better over many spins. It is an average across millions of spins, not a promise for one session.
• Volatility describes how wins are spaced. Low volatility pays smaller and more often; high volatility can run long dry spells but lands bigger when it hits.

Match the game to your session, not to a jackpot promise. If you want steady play, lower volatility suits you; if you accept long gaps for the chance of a large hit, choose higher volatility. Always start with the free demo to learn the mechanics before risking real money.

Slots or pokies?

They are the same thing. In New Zealand the games are called pokies; everywhere else they are slots. In a casino lobby they usually sit under a "slots" or "games" tab, and the RTP and volatility figures on each tile work exactly the same. Our slots vs pokies guide covers the terminology in more depth.

Where the games come from

Every slot is built by a studio, and the studio's reputation for fair maths and transparent RTP matters as much as the theme on the front. Browse the game providers we track, and check each slot page for its exact RTP, volatility and features. Compare the casinos carrying these studios in our top casino rating, set a budget before you spin and never chase a loss. 18+.
